Overview

AKA Variant Gallery is a Shopify app operated by Also Known As. The app helps merchants choose which existing Shopify product images are shown for selected product variants.

This policy explains what information the app accesses, why it is used, and how merchants can contact us about privacy questions.

Information We Access

The app uses the Shopify Admin API permissions granted during install. These permissions are limited to product data needed to configure variant galleries.

• Store domain and Shopify installation/session information.
• Product titles, product IDs, variant IDs, options, and media IDs.
• Existing product image metadata and image URLs from Shopify.
• Variant gallery mappings saved by the merchant.

The app does not need customer personal information, order data, payment data, or buyer account data to provide its core functionality.

How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Authenticate the merchant in Shopify Admin.
• Load products, variants, and existing product images.
• Save and update variant-to-image mappings.
• Apply the saved mapping through the Shopify theme app embed.
• Enforce app plan limits based on active mapped products.
• Maintain app reliability, security, and troubleshooting records.

Storage and Sharing

Product gallery mappings are stored primarily in Shopify app-owned product metafields. Installation and session records, plus a small mapped-product index used for plan limits, are stored in our application database.

We do not sell merchant data. We share data only with service providers required to operate the app, such as Shopify, Cloudflare, and our application database provider, and only for app operation, security, hosting, and support.

Retention and Deletion

We retain app data for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. If the app is uninstalled, Shopify installation sessions are removed in response to Shopify app lifecycle events where applicable.

Merchants can clear product mappings inside the app. When a mapping is cleared, the app removes the related product metafield so the storefront falls back to the theme's default gallery behavior.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The embedded app uses Shopify authentication/session mechanisms needed to run inside Shopify Admin. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect app data, including Shopify OAuth, secure transport, Cloudflare hosting controls, and restricted access to production secrets.

Merchant Rights and Requests

Merchants may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or more information about data related to their app installation. Some requests may require identity or ownership verification.
